Registered Nurse Job Description Definition of Registered Nurse (RN) A registered nurse (RN) is a person who graduated from university or college and passed a national licensing exam to receive a nursing license. RNs help patients and their families to cope with illnesses; they provide medical and psychological help to achieve the health state of a patient and prevent the possible diseases. Their task is to care for sick people in health care centers, private homes, schools, cams and public health agencies (Wilkinson Treas, 2011). Nurses should be professional in providing health care service and have good communication skills. RNs should care about patients without prejudice against race, ethnical origin, gender or religion.
